Hi Dave, that's a good point. I have already dug in a lot of stone for drainage a spade depths down and incorporated quite a bit through out. I do think the water table at present is unusually high. Thank you for your replies. I am intending to mix it a bit with the local soil. I believe one company sells peat that is dredged from reservoirs, which is a more environmentally friendly than peat cut from bogs. The peat is washed into the reservoirs by erosion.
