For what it’s worth, in the case of my fockea edulis I didn’t treat the cut with anything at all and repotted it almost straight away without even letting it dry.

I nearly got the full ring as well. A cristate plant of zeilmanniana ‘new dawn’ from Southfields.

Hadnt thought about a shallower pot. That may be an option for sure. Here’s what I mean with the plant I’ve trimmed. I removed the bit of taproot that had formed last August.
