Re: My earliest Conophytum this year.
Antii, My favourite for scent is C.angelicae ssp tetragonum, which I often move into the dwelling house in the evening and it fill the room with scent. As Tom says - some ficiforme have a strong scent and the flowers are attractive too. I just got obcordellum 'Spectabile' last year so have not yet h...

Re: Am I a Lithops' addict ?
I think I could be a potential Lithops addict. I love the pictues in the Steve Hammer book. The problem is, I'm ashamed to say, I cannot grow Lithops. I would really appreciate some feedback on this from someone else in NW England. I reckon winter temperature is the problem - as Peter B points out, ...

Diane - I got my own two C achabense from Terry the same year but no flowers yet this year. However - one of them has divided into two which I'm told is rather rare. May post a picture later.
I've one surviving seedling of ectypum ssp cruciatum from 2007 MSG seed. Hoping for a flower this year!

Re: Dont be shy
Hi Lyn,
I really enjoyed my own visit to the Dublin BG this time two years ago. Terrific collection of South African plants including (I'm green with envy) my favourite of the Cape heaths - Erica nana.
cool T-shirt by the way.

Re: My earliest Conophytum this year.
Thanks everyone. Chris - having seen your own amazing pictures on your website I'm honoured you liked my effort! Eve - I agree with Chris, there are some lovely bilobes out there. Julie - I've just noticed flowers on some C. pellucidum too. C gratum 'admiraalii' is out now as well. Timing seems abou...

Conophytum bilobum TS765. A really nice one with red anther filaments. Narrowly beat C.frutescens this year. Both have now gone over. I don't grow many of these summer flowering Conos.

Mesemb offsets on flower stems
[attachment 20392 mirabile.jpg] Hello, above is a picture of a newly emerged young Conophytum mirabile which flowered last year. It now has two new bodies as expected (it had one last year). As you can see, there are two tiny new bodies which have grown from the old flower stem, which looks to be de...
